Saint Barts of the North
Cottage by Lake Thingvellir, near Reykjavík, Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss
(The Golden Circle)

 The Thingvellir Lakehouse Cottage is just under 70 sqm. (750 sqf.)
It is not the largest house around the lake but then again, it is very cozy and you can feel the good spirits inside as soon as you enter.
There are three main rooms which sleep five comfortably and sometimes up to 8 people;
  • Master bedroom with Queen size bed for two people,
  • Living room with Sleeper Sofa for two people and  beautiful open view to the Thingvellir lake (Þingvallavatn) and surrounding mountains,
  • A common room, used as a dining room and bedroom with two King Single size beds for 2-4 people. (2 kids in each bed or up to 2 very cozy people each bed).
The kitchen connects the whole house together. Even though the common (dining) room is open into the kitchen, it is possible to close it off with large doors to get privacy.
The kitchen is equipped with all common tools and utensils, refrigerator
with freezer, SMEG gas stove, microwave, dining plates, glasses, wine glasses etc. Outside are both a gas and coal BBQ grill used for BBQ-ing and as an oven.
The bathroom is small with a large mirror and a shower stall. Word of honesty; the bathroom and shower might be tight for extremely tall or wide people but it should not create any problems..
The house has a small Flatscreen TV, AppleTV, WiFi and a Sonos sound system. Outside is a Softub hot tub (jacuzzi) for up to 6 people. During summer we set a dock into the lake which can be used as a swimming platform or for fishing.
There is lot of fish in Thingvellir lake. The most common species are four types of Char and Brown Trout. The most common fish is char with
size and weight of around 500 grams (one pound) to one kilo which is a nice fish to put on the BBQ or to fry the fillets in icelandic butter on a pan. Then there is Brown Trout, species that can grow up to 10-15 kg. and are monsters to battle with a rod.
Please see more about fishing on our ‘To-Do’ page.
